What a day looks like
- Morning
- Breakfast at 7:00, then a walk or mindfulness on the grounds. Community meeting at 8:30, a clinical group at 9:00, and individual therapy, case management, and medical visits from 10:30.
- Midday
- Lunch at 12:00. A skills group at 1:00: DBT, life skills, and work readiness.
- Afternoon
- Program time from 2:30: equine therapy, the mechanic and woodworking shops, the art room, the music room, or the gym. Peer support group at 4:30.
- Evening
- Dinner at 5:30. A recovery meeting on site at 7:00 (AA, NA, or SMART). Journaling, family calls, and quiet time from 9:00.
This is our planned sample weekday. Weekends swap the groups for a process group, time in the gym and game room, a cookout, family visiting, and a movie night or the bonfire.

What is included
A place to live
A room in one of our residential houses.
Therapy
Individual therapy and daily groups, including CBT, relapse prevention, DBT skills, and motivational interviewing, with case management and peer recovery coaches.
Medical care
Led by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Vicki E. Burdine, MD. Our staffing plan has nurses on campus around the clock and a nurse practitioner on the team.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining hall, with a cookout at the weekend.
Recreation
Time on campus: the lake and canoes, the horses, the gym and court, the workshops, the bonfire. It supports the clinical work and never replaces it.

You meet your navigator and write your plan before you leave. Then we call, check in, and stay with you for years.

Family
Family is part of recovery here. Our sample weekend sets aside the early afternoon for family visiting and a family session.
What to bring
Comfortable clothes for about a week and any current medications in their original containers.
How long you stay is decided by your care team and you together, based on how you’re doing. We plan around stays of about 30 days.
Residential care at Wheatfield is planned at ASAM Level 3.5, which is clinically managed, high-intensity residential treatment, with a trauma-informed approach built on SAMHSA’s six principles.
